For the discerning Metallica fan......

Some of you may have heard of Apocalyptica, a bunch of guys that play Metallica and other metal songs on cellos (its pretty rad, check it out). Along a similar vein, I've stumbled across some other not so conventional tributes to Metallica:

Beatallica - Imagine Metallica doing Beatles covers. The singer sounds so much like James, its scary.
Harptallica - Metallica played by two harps
Pianotarium - Metallica played by an amazing pianist (heh heh....I said pianist)

enjoy...

a sad day for metal

RIP Dimebag:
Nightclub Shooting in Ohio kills "Dimebag" Darrel Abbot, formerly of Grammy Award Winning band Pantera. His new band Damageplan released a their debut album 8 months ago. [I know music filter, news filter, etc]

{from MetaFilter}

this is terrible.....i listened to a lot of Pantera in high school. "Dime" will certainly be missed....

after many years of waiting for a new metallica studio album, the time has arrived......st anger now walks among us.

my first reaction to the album was that it sounded to raw, liek the guys recorded it in a bathrrom with a tape recorder. after a few more listens, it started to grow on me and now i love it. it good to hear they guys getting back to kicking ass instead of trying to explore their musical sides. this is metallica how i remember and love: hard and fast.

i really enjoyed the bonus DVD that came with the CD. all 11 songs performed live in the studio. good stuff.

oh yeah, i shaved my head friday night too. :)
